Just after 10:00 our Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit was activated for a serious motor vehicle accident in the Boschkop area east of Pretoria.
On arrival we found two people with critical and serious injuries entrapped in after the collision. Rescue teams were called in to use specialized rescue equipment to free the patients.
While the extrication was taking place medical staff worked vigorously to stabilize the critically injured passenger and the decision was made to airlift him to a specialist trauma hospital in Johannesburg.
The other seriously injured patient and the patient from the other vehicle was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital.
TMPD and SAPS was on scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
