Just after 15:00 Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit recieved a call for an explosion in Samcor park, Silverton on arrival we found a building housing various chemicals was well alight.
Our team then formed part of a massive response from City of Tshwane Firefighters, Gauteng Health specialized rescue unit, Gauteng Health Medical staff to ensure the evacuation of the surrounding buildings aswell as setting up a medical triage area.
After 9 hours the fire was finally extinguished and the scene handed over to Fire investigators, environmental specialists and SAPS to determine the cause of the fire.
