Just before 09:00 our Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit team was activated for reports of an explosion in the Boschkop area of Pretoria east. On arrival we found 2 men who sustained injuries one minor and one critical after a diesel tank exploded.
Due to the extensive burn wounds on the one patient the decision was made to airlift him to a specialist burns unit in Johannesburg.
The Netcare911 aero medical helicopter was called in to assist.
SAPS was and scene and will investigate the cause of the explosion.
